Pattern Machine in Math
This pattern machine was created in a grade 4 mathematics classroom. Students used old tissue boxes to build pattern machines they would later use in group activities. Each "machine" a list of several terms that followed patterns, created by the students. When working in groups, the machine owner would tear out the first set of numbers to be studied by the rest of the group. The other students would need to decipher the pattern. The picture to the right shows a set of numbers that follow the pattern "multiply by2."
